These classes are designed to reduce incidence
of teen pregnancy, HIV/AIDS, and other sexually transmitted
diseases (STDs), by helping youth learn how to make better
choices about their dating relationships. |

Class Description
Module #1- Romance and Your Body:
- Discusses puberty, menstruation, male and female reproductive
systems, pap smears, breast self-exam, male self-exam, and healthcare.
Module #2- Romance and STD Prevention:
- Impact of Sexually Transmitted Disease on future health. Importance
of STD testing, treatment, prevention, and communication skills.
Module #3- Romance 101- Building Healthy
Relationships:
- Helps teens develop skills for healthy “romantic” relationships and
understand the dangers associated with risky behaviors.
Module #4- Romance and Saying No To
Sexual Pressure:
- Shows teens how to resist sexual coercion and avoid abusive,
controlling, and exploitive relationships. Explores why some teens date
older adults and the problems this can cause.
Module #5- Romance Gone Wrong- Dating
Violence:
- Addresses dating violence, abusive relationships, and impact of
domestic violence on children. Teens learn how to get help.
Module #6- Romance and Protection from
Sexual Assault:
- Overview of date rape, date rape drugs, and sexual abuse. Teens
discuss how to protect themselves and how to help victims heal.
Module #7- Romance, Pregnancy, and
Parenting Responsibility:
- Explores benefits of delaying pregnancy, including costs to raise a
baby, WIC, child support payments, and paternity issues. Stresses
importance of both mother and father roles in parenting.
Module #8- Romance, Pregnancy Prevention,
and Health:
- Teens will discuss the benefits of delaying pregnancy. They will
learn about contraception. They will also learn about taking care of
their health before they become pregnant.
