Broward County Health Department: To promote and protect the health and safety of all persons in Broward County through the delivery of quality public health services
Medical Services

MEDICAL SERVICES

The mission of the medical staff is to be an active participant on the public health team, assisting in the treatment and eradication of preventable diseases, overseeing the health and well being of Broward County residents and visitors and educating health professionals and the community about important public health issues. The section of the medical team integral to accomplishing these tasks is the Epidemiology Department which plays a major role in the overall functioning of all health department programs. The medical section has a major role in disaster preparedness in collaboration with the county government and other community partners. Civil Surgeons in the medical program will perform medical examinations and INS clearances for individuals with certain medical conditions seeking adjustment of status in the United States. Medical administration also provides Religious Exemption from Immunization forms. In addition, to the physicians who practice in health department programs, the medical section also provides laboratory, x-ray and pharmacy services. Laboratory and x-ray services are available for Health Department Programs. Laboratory Services are an integral part in the Family Planning, Sexually transmitted Diseases, Hepatitis and HIV Clinics. The Tuberculosis Program is comprehensive, and inclusive of history and physical examination, diagnosis via skin tests, x-rays and sputum cultures and treatment and referral when indicated.
