Annual inspections are conducted of Body Piercing facilities in Broward County to prevent the spread of blood borne disease. The inspections are done using prescribed minimum sanitary and safety requirements related to the design, operation, and maintenance of body-piercing salons and temporary establishments.

Body piercers are also required to obtain annual training in safety, sterilization and sanitation.  The Florida Department of Health in Broward County provides two training classes each year, so piercers can be updated on rule changes, receive educational updates and discuss issues in their profession.
