This program works to reduce the health effects of indoor air quality problems by providing technical expertise to Florida homeowners. This is a non regulatory program with no enforcement function. The Department of Health is currently engaged in identifying potential health hazards related to the phenomenon of rapid and recurring corrosion of metals inside homes. This phenomenon is suspected to be associated with the presence of Chinese drywall and sulfur like odors, in homes built since 2003.
Services include:
- Assessment of health risks from exposure to chemical, physical, and biological agents in the indoor environment.
- Indoor air quality consultations, air sampling, and testing (a service fee is required)
