The objective of this program is to minimize risks from exposures to toxics and other potentially hazardous agents in indoor environments, primarily in private homes and other residential buildings. This objective is achieved through collection, compiling, correlating and providing factual information, monitoring and assessing health risks due to exposures to agents in the indoor environment.

This program responds to inquiries and requests for assistance on indoor air toxics issues with no specific regulatory authority authorized.

  • Response includes assessment of health risks from exposure to chemical, physical, and biological agents in the indoor environment. The department may collect, compile and correlate information on public health and exposures to indoor air toxins through sampling and testing.
  • The Broward county health department environmental health section provides indoor air quality consultations, indoor air sampling and testing for a fee specified in the established BCHD fee schedule.
